1st day in Bangkok - the 1st one who sleeps... is dead!

Chatuchak - BTS - Sukhumvit 24 and Massage no.1

sunny 37 °C

I am dead...
We nevertheless take a few things and head to the Chatuchak market to meet Igor.
We ride the BTS sky train for the first time at the Phrom Phong stop (very cold with the A/C!!!). The BTS is fast, cheap and not crowded on Sundays so the situation (along with the jet lag help) feels a bit surreal.

I observe the Thai in dressing styles; pants, skirts, tee-shirts, pullovers (ok the BTS is cold but outside, how can you stand it? ;) ), a big variety of styles. Lots of colors but nothing too extreme except maybe for the various Hello Kitty and bling bling phone accessories.

We get to Chatuchak market and I had no idea what I was in for...

Incredible market. HUGE, impossible to find again something you may have seen before so buy something if you see it!!!
It is extremely hot under the tents or in the sun and extremely crowded. We see so many things: pants, shirts, handbags, hats, earrings (12 for 120 baht!!), home decorations, animals (little dogs, cats, squirrels, snakes, rabbits, fish, turtles) and many seem to suffer from the heat...
The market is divided into 25 sections but it is so hard to find anything unless you stumble upon it. There is anything and everything, from very traditional artisanal stuff to trendy street-wear and much much much more.

We meet Igor who has a few business stuff to finish after our papaya salad and grilled chicken and we decide to head back to the hotel.

I get a full manucure / pedicure (2h30 !!! for a ridiculous price) while Flo gets a massage.
I am too tired to go back out and get my massage in the hotel itself (where I taste for the 1st time the great Matoom tea - Bael fruit).
The pool of the hotel is quite nice and although we are on the last floor (9th) with it, surrounding buildings are quite tall and we do not get to see much.
